- What is a first-generation college student?
A first-generation college student is a student whose parent or guardian does not have a 4-year (bachelor's) college degree. You still qualify as first gen even if your sibling has a 4-year degree.
- What is the First Gen Network at Central Piedmont Community College?
It is a new initiative with the Office of Mentoring & Coaching providing support to first generation college students. First Gen Network is a free support program designed to help first-generation college students thrive both in and out of the classroom. Through personalized one-on-one coaching, interactive workshops, community-building events, and access to valuable campus resources and opportunities, students can gain the guidance, skills, and connections needed to succeed throughout their college journey and beyond.
